Michael Hodgson was born in  Modesto, California. He has been a professional artist for more than twenty years, working in both the commercial and fine art fields. Michael paints beautiful tonalist landscape in the tradition of the Arts and Crafts movement of the early twentieth century. His subtle use of color and his ability to capture the late light of the foothills and mountains around his southern California home make his paintings highly sought after by collectors.

Hodgson is a member of one of the oldest and most respected artists’ Association in the United States, The California Art Club. The organization was started by the early California Impressionists in the early twentieth century, a period that influences   Michael’s work. His work is collected by many private and corporate collections throughout the Western United States. First Street Gallery is proud to represent his paintings in the greater Central Valley.
