Larry Lew brought in some new bowls recently. They are fabulous! Stop by as soon as you can to see them!

Black Walnut Bowl - $350
This bowl was created using black walnut wood found in a wood pile that was going to be burned. The wood has a "wild" grain that may be the result of the grafting process used in orchard trees. The wood also had several voids that were also incorporated into the design of the piece.

Pistache Burl Bowl - $350
This bowl was created using a burl from a Chinese Pistache tree. The burl had formed around a limb and the piece was designed to incorporate a section of the limb to show how the burl grew around it.

This bowl was created using an old piece of cherry that was being thrown away. The wood was an odd shape but it had good color and grain. It was turned to emphasize the grain and include natural voids as features of the piece. Unstable areas, voids and some checks and cracks that occurred as the wood dried out were filled with turquoise to help emphasize the beauty of the piece of wood.

This bowl was turned from the crotch in the main fork of a black oak that was removed in a land clearing operation. The rest of the tree was used for fire wood. It took over two years to complete the piece including rough cutting, drying and re-cutting the bowl. During this time, the figure in the wood was developing into the beautiful pattern seen in the wood. If you look close you can see where the main branches were located in the original tree.

WALNUT CARVED PLATTER #020809P
This bowl was created using wood from a local walnut orchard that was removed several years ago. The wood was taken from the part of the tree where the native walnut is grafted to the English walnut. The bowl design represents leaves lying on the ground after they have fallen from a tree. The fallen leaf patterns create a natural beauty all their own. $475.00

WALNUT CARVED BOWL #012709L
This bowl was also created using wood from a local walnut orchard. The bowl design represents leaves as they work together to serve the tree that created them. In this piece, they will have a longer life working together than they would have in their natural environment. $550.00
