June is a month of many "national month" holidays! As we have been going through the calander we found June to be the following:

Dairy Month
Both the National Dairy Council and Midwest Dairy Association honor the month of June as Dairy month. Each year, the highlights and benefits of dairy foods are the focus of the season, and various councils, groups, and organizations work together to get the message of supporting the nation’s farmers to the public.

The National Dairy Council promotes its 3-a-day program to encourage Americans to reduce risks of osteoporosis, high blood pressure, obesity, and colon cancer through consumption of dairy foods. It is estimated that most Americans are not getting enough calcium from their diets, and are thus not benefiting from optimal calcium absorption and nutrition.

Dairy Month first became part of American culture in 1937. It started as National Milk Month, and many chain stores sponsored events to promote drinking milk. In 1939, the campaign increased to promoting all dairy products, not just milk.  It wasn’t until 1955 that the American Dairy Association became the leader of campaigns for Dairy Month, and began to involve communities and businesses nationwide.

National Adopt A Cat Month
Approximately 4 million cats end up in shelters every year.
One of them is sure to be a perfect match for you!
Each year, thousands of kittens are born during spring and summer -- and many end up in animal shelters, waiting for loving homes. To promote adoptions of these playful, affectionate animals, American Humane celebrates Adopt-A-Cat Month® in June. Come visit the fabulous felines at your local animal shelter, and take home your new best friend!

Rose Month
June is National Rose Month in the United States. Here are some ideas for celebrating:
•    Visit a public rose garden near you.
•    Join a local rose gardening club.
•    Begin a garden blog to celebrate your rose garden.
•    Send photos of your roses to friends and family.
•    Give a rose plant to a nearby nursing home
•    Volunteer to help care for the roses at a local park

Turkey Lovers Month
Turkey. The gravy, the taste… the Tryptophan, what’s not to love? While turkey is frequently associated with November in the Unites States, Turkey Lovers’ Month is in June. Weird, right!
While you might get to bask in the holiday glow of a 15 lbs turkey the fourth Thursday of every November, the month of June offers you the same option—except for more than a day. In fact, there are so many days to celebrate you'll have enough time to eat all the leftovers from a 15 lb turkey.
Thirty days of turkey might get monotonous, though. And the turkey would probably go bad before the end of those 30 days. However, turkey is essential to celebrating this month, so make sure you have a baster to cook and enough salt and pepper to season! Enjoy!

Bet you didn't know about some of these!
