For the first time in several years John Karl Claes has brought in a new group of drawings to the gallery.
Thursday Afternoon Clouds 22x30
The strong sense of composition and design that is a hallmark of his paintings is brought out to full effect in these drawings. The powerful use of chiaroscuro (the use of light against dark) lets John describe the Central Valley landscape in a dramatic fashion.
The Leading Edge 31x32
This new series of drawings depict the enormous cumulus clouds that typically pass through the Central Valley each spring. The drama that plays out between the light and dark of these fast moving clouds is endlessly inspiring as they dance across the sky, building and changing shape as they migrate to the east.
Slowly Moving Through 22x30
Please stop by the gallery to see these striking new drawings!
